In which languages is KirzeN reachable?
Since KirzeN is positively an internationally public dictionary, we do our best to translate it to as many languages as it is possible. If Kirzen in not available in one of your spoken languages, but you feel you are a language lover and committed enough to help us, please contact us!
What is the aim of KirzeN? Why is it different from other similar pages?
KirzeN is aiming to help the members to communicate without any obstacles and use languages as a tool for creating a synergistic community. We believe it is great to exchange our culture and get to know people from the other side of the world. It is always great to meet interesting people and share your thoughts about something that is exciting for both of you. If you are able to improve your language skills besides all the above mentioned benefits, that is even more fantastic. Kirzen is urging the benefits of learning a language in a proactive way and being a member of a community. The entertaining content and the international relations that you can develop are helping you to enjoy learning and using a language.
Why is it worth to register?
To use only the dictionary function of KirzeN you do not need to register. However, if you meant to take some seconds with registration, you would discover all the other features that make you enjoy language learning. How could I become a KirzeN member?
Registration is simple and free of charge. You can become a KirzeN member easily. Just click on Registration button that you find in the right upper corner.
Should I be able to speak in variety of languages to use KirzeN?
No, you don’t have to! To reach the basic functions it is perfectly enough, if you speak your mother tongue well and know how to use the internet.
What can I customize on my Profile page?
In your own Profile page you can select the information that you want to share with others about you. You have the possibility to write longer about yourself, change your password or select the languages in which you would like to receive tasks in the Workshop.
How can I use the Dictionary?
We tried to make the Dictionary user friendly. The aim was to create a simple and practicable interface, since we didn”t think that a user who is looking for a translation want to see pop up windows and long texts. Therefore the Dictionary is perfectly handy for looking for translations in any source and target language, either when you want to see full matches for your search or for checking all matching version.
How can I use the autocomplete function?
After each typed character the autocomplete function is triing to complete the word you looking for. If you do not want to use this function you can switch it off with clicking on "Disable". If you want to switch it back you can click on "Enable".
Why is the Definition menu for?
With clicking on Definition you can look up the explanation of the meaning of a word. The definition and the example for usage help you to understand more the translations in foreign languages.
What happens if I click on the searched word?
You will be taken to the file of the word automatically, if you click on the word itself. In this file you can see every other uploaded content to that word, e.g. how it is sound, what the translations are in other languages, what the part of speech is, and many more. Through the example of usage, you will even know how it is used in real life.
What is the Workshop?
KirzeN Workshop is for the registered users, where they can improve their language knowledge with using the interactive functions of the Workshop. KirzeN members contribute to the development of Kirzen. Therefore, they certainly gain points in return for all uploaded content. The points could be used in the KirzeN Shop, where they are redeemable for valuable gifts.
Where can I find the Workshop?
The KirzeN Workshop is available from every page of the site. You can always see the Workshop button in the right upper corner of the page. In addition to this, all the “Upload” links take you to the Workhop.
What can I do in the Workshop?
In the KirzeN Workshop you can edit the content of the site. Upon entering into the Workshop you will receive immediately a task that is customized for you by your language settings and by the chosen task types. In the Workshop you can upload translations and multimedia content according to your spoken languages and the level of your membership.
What is the Workshop navigation?
Here you can choose the types of the tasks you want to receive. The first column shows you the possibilities for the 1. Level users, the second is for the 2. Level users and the third is for the 3. Level users. You can see the next column active as soon as you reach the level that is next for you. In the active column you can check the task type you would like to receive.
What kind of task types are in the Workshop?
When we were creating the Kirzen Workshop, we decided to pay extreme attention to allow only the proper and supervised content into the site. To make sure about it, we arranged a multilevel upload and review system. In the first level KirzeN members are helping to extend the database of the site, since, beside the quality, it is very significant to have a large and comprehensive database. In the second level our members become reviewers, that means they can supervise the content uploaded by other users and decide whether they correct or not. Of course, on this level, you can still upload as well. As we would like to eliminate any incidental wrong decision, there is a need for the approval of two of our second level users for all the uploaded content. Sometimes it ma y happen that the two reviewer do not agree. In this case a third level member appears and makes a decision about the content. These members called mentor and they have other tasks as well. You may read more about them at Who are the mentors? link. This is a simple but comprehensive system, that ensure the appearance of only the perfect and neat content at KirzeN.
You can find the tasks in 3 groups according to the levels:
Level 1. - Uploading:
All uploaded content is very important to be legally clear. The uploader need to be the owner of the copyright of the uploaded media or need to have the permission of the owner of the copyright.
Level 2. - Reviewing:

Is it possible for anyone to do all task types in the Workshop?
More or less. There are some tasks that can be done only by level 2, or level 3 members. For instance, to make a decision about the propriety of an uploaded content you should be a mentor (level 3.).
How can I become an uploader?
The main condition of uploading is that the uploader should be a registered and active member of KirzeN who alleges to speak at least one language on his/her profile page.

Why is it good if I upload something?
The aim of KirzeN is to be available and useful in the most languages. The site is created to be helpful and user friendly in order to facilitate language learning and searching for vocabulary. Therefore, when someone uploads content to KirzeN, it directly helps to other language learners, and in the same time it contributes to the development of the internet.
How can I upload?
Basically you can upload content to KirzeN through KirzeN Workshop, but you can also reach “Uploading” buttons in almost every page of Kirzen that takes you directly to the Workshop where you can upload the chosen content.
Can I only do those tasks that were assigned to me by the system?
Nope, you can choose any type of the tasks. The KirzeN Workshopl could be customized for you. You can select your own desired type of tasks. However, if you wanted to upload something that is haven’t been assigned to you yet, it is possible. In most of the pages of the site you can find “Uploading” link which ca be used for uploading new content to a word, that is already in the Dictionary.
What happens if I can’t find the word or phrase in the Dictionary that I want to upload to?
We continuously develop the content of KirzeN also our members do. If you do not find a word, please be patient, it is going to show up soon!
How can I become a reviewer?
To get reviewing tasks you should choose a mentor with the help of the mentor searching application and already uploaded definite number of content. You can choose any of the 3. level members to be your mentor.
Who are the Mentors?
Mentors are active members of the KirzeN Community who merited their level with their continuous and punctual work in KirzeN. Anyone become a mentor, but only ofter a definite number of correct uploaded content.
What are the tasks of the Mentors?
In one hand, Mentors make decisions about tasks were reviewed differently. In the other hand, they help KirzeN’s operation with bringing in the new members to how to use the Workshop. They share their knowledge about KirzeN and committed to serve the Community. No one can work in the site without the helping attention of a mentor.
How should I choose my mentor?
Look around in the site and seek for the Mentors. Select the most likeable one or check what kind of content he or she uploaded already and decide based on that!
How many users can be pupils of one mentor?
It is very important for the Mentors to supervise the work of their pupils. If someone is not satisfied with his/her mentor, he/she can choose another one any time. Therefore the numbers of the pupils belong to one mentor is unlimited.
How is my work going to be valued?
At KirzeN, at one of the biggest and most popular web dictionary every user feels they develop the site with their work. Besides this, every member receive points that are redeemable in KirzeN Shop for valuable gifts.
What can I do with my points?
Points are for rewarding quality work and for keeping our members active. The benefits of the continuous and correct work in Kirzen Workshop are enjoyable for everyone. So start it now!
Where are my points?
You can check the number of your current points in your profile page, right after entering to the site. You can also see a detailed list about your points under Points history menu.
How can I use picture and video pages?
Pictures page is for direct searching for images. On the page you can see all uploaded pictures that you can adjust with the navigation buttons on the right side. The basic setting is showing the pics according to the date of uploading because in this way always the most recent images are seeable. Also, you can choose the order of the images to see the most viewed first. If you are interested in which pictures are the most rated, choose that filter. To see the picture or the video just click on the image and it.
How can I upload content?
You have two choices. You can upload a picture to a word, if you search for the word in the Dictionary and click on it. In the file of the word choose „upload image” function in the right side. The other possibility to upload is entering the Workshop directly and uploading pictures to random words.
What kind of videos I can upload?
KirzeN is compatible with: avi, mpg, mpeg, mov, asf, wmv, flv, mp4 formats. You cannot upload a slideshow, thus your video cannot contain still pictures following each other and cannot contain notices or any caption.
What kind of image I can upload?
KirzeN is compatible with: jpg, gif, png formats.
How can I comment a video or a picture?
You should be a registerd member to comment on a video or pic. Registration is simple and free! What are you waiting for? After loggin in, go to Videos or Pictures page and write a comment or rate the content. Sign up now!
Is there any limit for uploading?
Yes, maximum size for the pics: 2880 x 2880 px. In the case of the Videos, there is a time frame for the lengths of the uploading which is 10 minutes, and the video itself could not be longer than 2 minutes. The maximum size of the file should not be more than 1 GB.
What if I want to upload a smaller picture than the given size?
Uploaded pictures are not going to be enlarged, because that could result in reduced quality. So that would be good if you can choose a picture that fulfills a 250X190 px size frame. If it is not possible, you can fill the empty space with a background colour.
I uploaded my video but I can’t find it in the site!
Since all the uploaded content need to be reviewed, it may take some time until your video appears in Kirzen. Please don’t forget, this happens because of you, as we would like to show you only correct content. Please be patient a little bit!
How can I select my Favourites?
After you selected which one of the videos or images you would like to add, click on “Favourites” below. If you want to delete something from your list, just click on the item and choose “Delete”. Don’t forget to add new favourites instead of it!
How can I share my Favourites with others?
First of all, we suggest you to show KirzeN to your friends. After watching a video, a new window shows up where you can fill out the recipients and send it to your friends. If you have any problem with that, then log in to your email and copy the URL to the text of your letter.
How can I allow JavaScript to run on my computer?
To allow JavaScript to run there are two chances depending on your browser. 1. Internet Explorer: Please go to SECURITY TAB. For IE 4, click CUSTOM AND SETTINGS. For IE 5.x, click CUSTOM LEVEL. Scroll to the ACTIVE SCRIPTING section of the list. Click ENABLE. Close and restart your browser. 2. Mozilla Firefox: FireFox 1.5.x, 2: From the TOOLS menu, choose OPTIONS. Then go to the CONTENT tab and check the "Enable JavaScript" checkbox.
Are my data safe in KirzeN?
We put high emphasis on protecting our members; therefore we never give out data to third party. We always pay attention to the newest development of the IT world and trying to get the best protection in order to minimize the risk of losing, damaging or disclosing data of our members.
Who do review the uploaded content?
The uploaded content is always reviewed by the members of the KirzeN Community. Kirzen Workshop randomly assigns Review tasks o those members who are allowed to review content.
What if I find something I think is incorrect?
We believe that the multilevel system works really well. However, if you find something you think is incorrect, please report it to us. You can find Report button next to every uploaded video, picture, translation, etc. As we might don’t know what is wrong with it, please always explain why do you think that content is wrong. Based on the type of your objection, you can report quality, ethical, spelling, injurious or stylistic issues or even the user’s behaviour.
